West Raleigh
Exchange Club
The West Raleigh
Exchange Club is involved and making a real difference in the community
with our many programs.

The
National Exchange Club Project - The Prevention of Child Abuse
The National Exchange Club Foundation
participates in a variety of educational and fund development programs
to create greater public awareness of child abuse and our efforts to
prevent it. Hundreds of volunteer organizations, Exchange Club Child
Abuse Prevention Centers and Exchange Clubs dedicate their time to
conducting local campaigns in the fight against child abuse. How the
local Exchange Club participates in this program is unique to each
club. The theatre presentation, A Christmas Carol, has been a long
standing Christmas tradition in the Raleigh, NC area. When a spot became
available, a unanimous decision was made to become a sponsor for A
Christmas Carol. The Board of Directors also decided to donate all
proceeds from the performance of A Christmas Carol to Prevent Child
Abuse North Carolina. To date we have raised over $84,000.00 for
Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina. The first year's proceeds were over
$30,000 which at that time was the largest single fundraiser in PCANC's
history. West Raleigh continues to support PCANC with proceeds from A
Christmas Carol
.
Duke Children’s Hospital
For six years, West Raleigh has been involved in taking meals to the
Duke Pediatric Bone Marrow Unit at Duke Children's Hospital. The
children on this unit are receiving bone marrow transplantation for
various reasons, including cancers and genetic disorders. This is the
last resort foremost of these children. The unit holds 16 children,
whose families are constantly by their side and enjoy the home cooked
meal, as well as the time that is spent visiting upon the delivery of
food once a month
The Miracle League
Miracle League is a baseball league for disabled children located at
Adams Elementary in Cary, NC. The West Raleigh Exchange and Auxiliary
Clubs are involved promoting the Miracle League through awareness and
community involvement. The West Raleigh baseball teams and their
families embrace this league and become involved as volunteers on a
regular basis. We believe every child deserves the chance to play
baseball!

Urban Ministry
The West Raleigh Exchange and Auxiliary Clubs hold a food drives twice a
year in conjunction with all of our baseball teams. Each player on
every team is given a grocery bag with a suggested list of items to buy
and bring to the ballpark. Exchange Club/Auxiliary Members help Urban
Ministries of Wake County to load the food on a truck and send it to
their Food Pantry. The Fall
2009 Drive donated
over 2200 pounds of food, nearly 6 pounds of food per family, for the
food bank, which is currently providing food to 30-40 families a day.
